West Virginia Mountaineer Football Team

West Virginia Mountaineer is an American football team that represents West Virginia University (commonly known as WVU). It represents West Virginia University in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I FBS. The team is currently located in Morgantown, West Virginia. The history of the team goes long back to the nineteenth century. Though the team was built in 1890 but it team played its first season in 1891.

 The home stadium of the team is Milan Puskar Stadium which has a capacity for 60,000 audiences to sit and watch the match. Rob Alsop is the athletic director of the team while Neal Brown is the head coach. Neal Brown was a player before he started coaching. That is why his influence of him on the team is very crucial. 

  In the beginning, the team played without any conference as an independent team. The team remained independent for thirty-three years until 1925. Then WVIAC was the conference of the team for a very limited time (1925-1927). After WVIAC, the team started playing again independently without any conference for almost 22 years. But in 1950, SoCon became the conference of the team for the era of 1950-1967. After that, the team remained independent in the era (1968- 1990). Big East was the conference of the team for 20 years (1991-2011). Currently, the conference of the West Virginia Mountaineer football is the Big 12 Conference. 

 As far as records and titles are concerned, the team looks impressive. The All-Time record of the West Virginia Mountaineer football team is 769-514-45 (.596). Whereas the Bowl record of the team is 16-23 (.410). The West Virginia Mountaineer football team holds 15 conference titles. Out of 15 titles, the team won 8 titles (1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1958, 1964, 1965, 1957) under the SoCon whereas 7 titles (1993, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011) were won under the Big East.

  Like titles, the team also has quite a lot of rivalries. The team has almost 7 biggest rivalries. These rivalry teams include Marshall, Maryland, Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse, Cincinnati, and Virginia Tech.

The current roster of the West Virginia mountaineer includes players such as Austin Brinkman, Donald Brandel, Cortez Braham, Caden Biser, Mumu Bin-Wahad, Bryce Biggs, Derek Berlitz, Leighton Bechdel, Donavan Beaver, Jared Bartlett, Tirek Austin-Cave, Jaylen Anderson, Taijh Alston, Rashad Ajayi, and Jeremiah Aaron, etc.

 The West Virginia Mountaineer football team is currently competing in the Big 12. The 30 games were scheduled for West Virginia. Out of these 30 games, the has almost played all games as only one match is left. The last game of the team will be on Saturday, 26 November 2022. This game is going to be played between West Virginia Mountaineer vs Oklahoma St.

 In the current championship, the team hasn't performed well. The team has played already the majority of the games as only one match is left. Out of 30 games, the team was able to win 16 games. While the team has lost 11 games. The remaining two matches were canceled because of some severe issues. The match which was on 16 September 2018 against NC State and the match which was on 5 September 2020 these both matches were canceled. Currently in the Big 12 Conference, out of 10 teams, the West Virginia mountaineer football team is ranked #9 in the overall standings. As the overall score of the team is 4-7, the home score is 3-3, and the away score is 1-4.
