The team was founded in 1970. The first name of the team was Buffalo Braves. Buffalo Braves remained the name of the team for almost 8 years from 1970 to 1978. Then the name of the team was changed to San Diego Clippers which remained for 6 years from 1978 to 1984. After 1984, the name of the team was changed to Los Angeles Clippers which is the current name of the team.
