College Football Playoff is the highest-level college football tournament in the united states. College Football Playoff is a tournament that determined a national champion for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.
It is in operation since 2014. In the past, it was known by different championships Bowl Championship Series (1998-2013), Bowl Alliance (1995-1997), Bowl Coalition (1992-1994), and National Polls (1869-1991).
In
the College Football Playoff, only four teams play for the trophy (the CPF has
decided to extend the number of teams from 4 to 12 in 2024). There are 2
matches in the semifinals, in each match, 2 teams compete and the winners from
both matches qualify for the finals. In the finals, the winning team gets the
trophy of National Championship Trophy.
